Unrestricted grant for nonprofits from NH Charitable Foundation

On Monday, July 20, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation will begin accepting concept papers for the 2020 Community Grants program.

This competitive grant program awards unrestricted grants to support organizations' general operations rather than specific projects or capacity-building efforts. Through this program, they fund qualified nonprofits working in the areas of health and well-being, civic engagement, education, economic development, environmental protection, and arts and culture. The environment in which all nonprofits are operating has changed dramatically over the past few months. They expect to make some limited adjustments to the Community Grants program to respond to the needs of the sector at this unique moment in time and address ongoing and urgent community needs. This may include adjustments to program guidelines and application requirements. They will post updated information on the Foundation website by Wednesday, July 15.  As in past years, the program will offer multiyear unrestricted grants. Applicants will be asked to participate in a two-phase process: first, the submission of a brief concept paper to be followed, if invited, with a full application.   Important dates to note:

  • The online grant application, GrantSource, will begin accepting concept papers on Monday, July 20. Concept papers will be due on Thursday, August 13 at 5 p.m.

  • Organizations invited to submit a full application will be notified by Friday, September 4 with the full application due on Friday, October 2 at 5 p.m.

  • Final funding notifications will be made in mid-December.
