Overhead Doors in Meredith has entered its second generation of ownership as Nick Leighton and his wife have

bought the business from his father who started it in 2005. Nick has a new vision for the company adding a new flooring division specializing in epoxy floors. One of the main applications for the flooring business is in garages which dovetails perfectly with their door business.

The company has been in business for 20 years and Nick says it has shown steady growth every year in business.

Nick has always felt a strong responsibility to be involved in the community. He is the incoming President of the Meredith Chamber of Commerce and is proud of the increased energy he and others have brought to that organization. Giving back is in the family as Nick’s mother has been a Meredith Select Board member for several years as well as being involved with countless community organizations. Nick and his wife are dedicated to installing in their two young daughters a hard-working mindset, an appreciation for what they have, and a commitment to giving back to their community.

“I don’t say no to any effort focused on kids because that’s how I grew up and how I run Overhead Doors and I feel fortunate that I have the means to give back”, Nick says. He’s been supportive of the Boys and Girls Club and is proud to be a part of The Children’s Auction. Nick calls the Auction a “well-oiled machine with excellent fundraising credentials”. He said they’ve always had the Auction on in the office and have participated as bidders as well as donors providing a garage door giveaway for ten years.

Nick says he loves “the energy of Auction week”. He says being involved in the Auction boosts morale among his employees and inspires them to give back in their own ways. He strives to build a company culture rooted in hard work and generosity and tries to instill a culture of working harder so the company can do even more for the community. He finds giving back is contagious and benefits the donor as well as the recipient. “Not only does it feel good”, he says, “but it connects me with other business owners and the community”.
