Update from BBBSNH

·

Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire continues to serve existing matches virtually at this time, and making new matches that are meeting virtually for at least the first three months and will then begin meeting in person when it is safe to do so. They serve about 30 kids in the Lakes Region.

· Bigs (mentors) are connecting weekly with their Littles (mentees) over video meeting platforms, text messages or through the mail. Program staff continue regular check-ins (monthly or quarterly) with all match parties and connecting families with community resources, as needed.

· There are about 20 Lakes Region youth currently waiting for a Big, 14 of whom are boys so there is a great need for male mentors. Enrollment remains open to children and potential volunteer mentors, and the process has moved to all online for now, including the same background checks and pre-match training requirements for volunteers.

· Staff are beginning to facilitate virtual “clubs” for matches to participate in online, and Bigs are invited to meetings every other week to discuss virtual mentoring strategies and activities and share ideas.

· They are looking for donors to contribute to help send kids care packs to Littles and children on the waiting list, starting in June. To find out more, supporters can sign up for their newsletter at www.bbbsnh.org/newsletter.
