The Hands Across the Table program has temporarily suspended their weekly dinners but has been busy behind the scenes fulfilling their mission "To feed all who are hungry in body and spirit. We do so willingly and with compassion and understanding".
Given that thety spend approximately $250 a week to put on a meal the HATT Board decided in mid March to make a financial contribution of $750 to Got Lunch Laconia which is distributing bags of food every Friday to local families via a planned school bus route or pick up at Woodland Heights School.
Last week the HATT Board voted to make a $1000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of the Lakes Region which is providing free hot meals every weekday from 4-6 pm to anyone that drives through their curb side pick up on North Main Street in Laconia. They have also been posting their menu each day on the HATT Facebook page.
This week they decided to share the food in their freezers with some local groups that are taking care of feeding those in immediate need. They delivered food to the Community Action Program and Isaiah 61 Cafe. Chickens and turkeys are being cooked by Rick Notkin to provide the Salvation Army's Friendly Kitchen with wonderful sandwiches.  They also brought some gloves to the Laconia Fire Department which had been donated to HATT months ago.
It is their hope that when things normalize they can gear up quickly with the wonderful support HATT provides.Â
