  • The GLR Charitable Fund for Children Receives a 3 Star Rating from Charity Navigator

    Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction recently announced that its strong financial health and ongoing accountability and transparency has earned it a Three-Star Rating from Charity Navigator. This rating designates the Children’s Auction as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating it’s using its donations effectively based on Charity Navigator’s criteria. Charity Navigator is America’s largest and most-used independent charity evaluator. Since 2001, the organization has been an unbiased and trusted source of information for more than 11 million donors annually. Charity Navigator analyzes nonprofit performance based on four key indicators: the impact and results, accountability and finance, culture and community, and leadership and adaptability. “We are delighted to validate the Children’s Auction and its operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “We are eager to see the good work the auction is able to accomplish in the years ahead.” Jennifer Kelley, executive director of the Auction said, “We hope the Three-Star Charity Navigator status will help those new to our organization trust our commitment to good governance and financial health as we support children and families in need and enhances the faith of our current supporters.” The Children’s Auction’s rating and other information about charitable giving are available here.   • Tagg Team’s Gift Card Gala will be on Sunday, May 5th at the VFW to Benefit the Children's Auction

    Tagg Team is preparing for the 8th Annual Gift Card Gala on Sunday, May 5th at the VFW Hall at 143 Court St in Laconia.  First come, first served seating for 200 guests will begin at 12:30pm, with games scheduled to start at 1pm. Playing a game similar to bingo with a deck of playing cards, a variety of prize packages will be won by lucky game players and tie-game winners. Attend with friends and family to win. Offer to play a game card by “proxy” for anyone who cannot attend. Game cards will be offered for $2 each via cash (ATM available) or check payable to GLR Children’s Auction. A brief auction will offer bonus items to guests. Players will have the opportunity to pre-buy a game card for all games in April online at: https://www.givegab.com/teams/tagg-team-2024 VFW staff will offer cash services for all beverages and yummy snacks will be offered.   • Rebecca’s Aesthetic Studio is an Active Donor Supporting the Greater Lakes Region Children's Auction during the December Auction, Christmas in July, and An Evening of Broadway!

    Rebecca, founder of Rebecca’s Aesthetic Studio, has been an aesthetician for ten years here in the lakes region and her studio, Rebecca’s Aesthetic Studio, located in Gilford Village West, has been in business for seven years.  Rebecca offers clients customized facials and advanced skin therapies, teeth whitening, lash services, and reiki.  They are welcoming new clients! Rebecca loves donating services to the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction events.  When asked why she helps the Auction, she shares, "Being a single mom, I know the struggles parents face caring for their families.  We all have ways to contribute and I feel fortunate to be able to partake in giving back."

  • Beetle Books Community Challenge Team is Hosting a Young Writers Reading on Thursday, Jan 25 at Patrick's Pub

    Young creatives from the Kingswood Youth Center will take part in an open mic night sponsored by the Beetle Books challenge team on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Patrick’s Pub, in the Emerald Room. Come and listen to them talk about their work and get inspired. All are welcome. The young people all have artwork, a story or a poem published in the Beetle Books Challenge team’s 2023 volume of “It’s by the Kids: An anthology of children’s artwork and stories.” Material ranges from vivid drawings, paintings and self-portraits to haikus, short stories and thought-provoking material by older writers. Children who did not submit for the anthology this year may enjoy watching what could be possible for them next year! The book is available for purchase and costs $12; residents of the Lakes Region can order by emailing Janice at janice@beetlepress.com to save on shipping costs.
